Retreat getaway from the metropolis

Peaceful, picturesque, and private describes the location of Mistahiya Lodge in the beautiful Battle River Valley.

Greetings from Mistahiya in 2022

Regretfully all public events have been cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic, however the bird tower trail (Chacutenah) remains open for a walk along the Battle River to enjoy the forest and wildlife. This 7.5 km trail begins at the parking spot outside the Mistahiya gate. An optional little trail meanders through a Manitoba maple grove where you can enjoy a Little Free Library donated by Dr. Russell Schnell and relax at a picnic table. Benches and plant ID signs enhance your experience along the trail.
Trail #2: New in 2021: This trail loop, “Come by the Hills” located on the south side of River Road is also open and designed for one-way traffic. It offers a wonderful work out for cross-country runners and those wishing to increase endurance with speed. Taken leisurely, the trail leads you through the heart of the forest featuring songs of less common birds and offering a spectacular panoramic viewpoint. This viewpoint is named for the primary Cree guide for Anthony Henday circa 1735: Attickasish.

Please observe the maps and trail regulations posted on every gate.

This is a free service to the public, but donations are welcome to the Wainwright Wildlife Society for maintaining the trail via an orange box at the trailhead, or e-Transfer.

The Chacutenah trails may be used for Nordic skiing, but they may not always be groomed. Novice and intermediate level terrain.

Nature is a healing balm! We invite you to enjoy this section of Treaty Six land in the Battle River Valley in every season.

Retreat getaway from the metropolis

Peaceful, picturesque, and private describes the location of Mistahiya Lodge in the beautiful Battle River Valley.

Our log daylodge and grounds set the scene for many happy events. Outdoor weddings are especially idyllic and romantic on a lawn surrounded by tall aspen, pine and flowerpots overflowing. We also enjoy hosting family reunions, anniversary parties, youth camps, workshops, staff parties, and retreats.

Please join us and the Battle River Music Society for some of the amazing Roots, Blues, Folk and Celtic music hosted here throughout the year.
Come by the Hills Folk Music Festival is our main annual event that we invite you to participate in every August (2nd. weekend). Awesome music from across Canada! Camp and have fun with family and friends.

Enjoy birdwatching on the 7.5 km trail that runs west along the river, or come Nordic skiing along with the Wainwright Outdoor Club. Hike the slopes at Mistahiya for a breath-taking view of the river; the wildflowers here are spectacular!

Our goal is to provide a lovely, green space for your special event and to allow room for appreciation of the great gifts of nature.
