Regretfully all public events have been cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic, however the bird tower trail (Chacutenah) remains open for a walk along the Battle River to enjoy the forest and wildlife. This 7.5 km trail begins at the parking spot outside the Mistahiya gate. An optional little trail meanders through a Manitoba maple grove where you can enjoy a Little Free Library donated by Dr. Russell Schnell and relax at a picnic table. Benches and plant ID signs enhance your experience along the trail.

Activities

The adjacent Battle River conservation lands host a multitude of bird species and various small and large mammals such as beaver, coyotes and deer.

A short walk will bring you to the newly constructed bird watching tower overlooking the Battle River.

A walk up the old ski runs to the top of the hill will bring vistas uncommon to the area. It truly is a, “mountain experience on the prairies.”

In the winter you can cross country ski or snowshoe around the lodge, up the hill, or along the river. In the summer mountain biking and running trails twist and turn throughout the valley.

Listen closely in the late afternoon as the various coyote packs howl to each other throughout the valley!

YOGA – Allow me to introduce Kate Brown, a Hatha yoga instructor who has practiced yoga in East Central Alberta for many years. From time to time Kate either hosts or travels to teach yoga throughout the region.
